Dr Matthew Best has been a cardiologist since 2005. After graduating from the University of Western Australia in 1994, he was the first cardiologist in Western Australia to return after completing an international Clinical Fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation from Papworth Hospital in England.
As a leader in his field, Mathew shares his expertise in cardiology as a supervisor for the Postgraduate Training Program at Hollywood and at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Advanced Training Committee for Cardiology.
Matthew consults at Royal Perth Hospital, Hollywood Specialist Centre and the Mount Hospital. He also serves as an appointed member of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Mount Hospital. His approach to patient care is one of up-to-date best practice care, educating and empowering patients to participate in their health care in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
Dr Jay Baumwol is an expert in the management of heart failure. His areas of interests include cardiomyopathy, advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, cardiac amyloidosis, and echocardiography (including stress echocardiography and trans-oesophageal echocardiography or TOE).
Jay graduated medicine with honours from the University of Western Australia. He then trained further in advanced heart failure at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, before undertaking a Clinical Fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplantation at Toronto General Hospital, Canada.
He is a current member of the West Australian Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Service at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He has presented at international conferences and is an active participant in clinical research. His approach to clinical care prioritises his patients’ understanding of their condition, treatment options and management plan.
Dr Nangrahary is a passionate Consultant Cardiologist, General and Obstetric Physician with a special interest in complex care patients, women’s health, cardiac disease in pregnancy and heart failure and lipid disorders.
After completion of her medical degree in the Netherlands, she specialised in Cardiology and General Medicine in Western Australia. She undertook her fellowship in Echocardiography at Fiona Stanley Hospital, took a keen interest in heart failure and led the Heart Failure Clinic at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH). She further specialised in Obstetric Medicine and Cardiology at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH).
Her public work is carried out at SCGH and KEMH, and she undertakes the bulk of her private work at Mount Hospital, performing elective and procedural transesophageal echocardiograms (TOEs) and angiograms.
Chris has 23 years of cumulative nursing experience across various clinical, education, and leadership roles – of which 19 years has been in the areas of critical care and cardiac/heart failure nursing.
He has had extensive experience delivering telehealth consultations and biometric monitoring through a clinical care platform, engaging with primary care GP’s and treating specialists as part of a collaborative model of care, supporting and monitoring patients with up-titration of their heart failure medications, and delivery of/or referral to cardiac rehabilitation. He has completed two master’s degrees – one for nurse practitioner, and the other for advanced practice in critical care nursing. He is a believer in hands-on patient care , guiding and supporting patients to reach better outcomes to their overall cardiac health.
