Perth Heart Failure Cardiologist Prof Gerry O'Driscoll

Internationally recognised as an expert in heart failure, cardiomyopathy and mechanical heart support, Professor O’Driscoll served as the Medical Head of the West Australian Advanced Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplant Service from its inception in 1994 until 2010.

He holds Fellowships and higher degrees from leading institutions in Australia, Europe and the USA and teaches specialist cardiologists, other doctors and students in Australia and internationally. He is a reviewer for international journals in medicine and science and has been involved in the development of mechanical heart support devices internationally. His local and international research has resulted in hundreds of conference presentations and journal publications as well as academic university appointments.

Dr Matthew Best has been a cardiologist since 2005. After graduating from the University of Western Australia in 1994, he was the first cardiologist in Western Australia to return after completing an international Clinical Fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation from Papworth Hospital in England.

As a leader in his field, Mathew shares his expertise in cardiology as a supervisor for the Postgraduate Training Program at Hollywood and at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Advanced Training Committee for Cardiology.

Matthew consults at Royal Perth Hospital, Hollywood Specialist Centre and the Mount Hospital. He also serves as an appointed member of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Mount Hospital. His approach to patient care is one of up-to-date best practice care, educating and empowering patients to participate in their health care in order to achieve optimal outcomes.

 

Perth Heart Failure Cardiologist Dr Jay Baumwol

DR JAY BAUMWOL

Dr Jay Baumwol is an expert in the management of heart failure. His areas of interest include cardiomyopathy, advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and echocardiography (including stress echocardiography and trans-oesophageal echocardiography or TOE).
Jay graduated medicine with honours from the University of Western Australia. He then trained further in advanced heart failure at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, before undertaking a Clinical Fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplantation at Toronto General Hospital, Canada.
He is a current member of the West Australian Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Service at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He has presented at international conferences and is an active participant in clinical research. His approach to clinical care prioritises his patients’ understanding of their condition, treatment options and management plan.

Dr Min Ding is the Heart Failure Nurse Specialist. She has over 25 years’ experience in providing nursing care, phone consultations, assessments and education in heart failure and advanced heart failure patients.
Her approach to patient care is to build a trusted relationship that guides and supports patients to manage their health condition.
